Corpus Christi, Texas— Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited Windsor Park Elementary in Corpus Christi on Thursday to present the Corpus Christi Independent School District with the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon designation.

The national recognition is focused on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. The award recognizes the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating environments where students master challenging and engaging content.
Corpus Christi ISD had two campuses recognized this year—Windsor Park and the Early Childhood Development Center.

In addition to Gov. Abbott, State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa and State Representatives Todd Hunter and Abel Herrero were both on stage. Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales was also in attendance along with CCISD Board President Janie Bell and Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez.
