Delta makes landfall as a Cat Two Storm

Hurricane Delta just made landfall Friday evening near Creole, Louisiana with 100 mph winds. Creole is just 13 miles east of where Hurricane Laura made landfall in August.

Hurricane Delta has now become the season’s 10th named storm to make landfall in the United States, breaking the record set in 1919 and is the 4th landfall in Louisiana and the 7th along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Already there have been localized reports of flooding and major wind damage from the storm as it made landfall. Many evacuations were still underway in the area as they still worked to cope with recovering from Hurricane Laura.
