Officials confirm that COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Corpus Christi on Tuesday

The first doses of the newly developed and long awaited COVID-19 vaccinations are expected to arrive here in Corpus Christi on Tuesday, state of Texas health officials confirmed on Monday.

On Monday 19,500 doses began arriving in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. On Tuesday, another 75,0075 does will arrive at 19 other facilities across the state, including right here in Corpus Christi.

Douglas Lovelady, a spokesperson with the Texas Department of State Health Services was able to provide a list of those facilities which confirmed that Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline is on the list of local facilities to receive the vaccines on Tuesday.

Lovelady says that the agency expects vaccine for the remaining 87 sites on the list to receive their initial douses in the first week’s distribution to begin shipping later in the week. Corpus Christi Medical Center would be included in that shipment.

Other facilities receiving doses on Tuesday include two facilities in Edinburg in the Rio Grande Valley which has been hit extremely hard with the coronavirus.
