To increase awareness about the importance of prenatal care, the Success By 6 Early Childhood Coalition will be sponsoring a Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby! community drive-through event for expectant mothers and those preparing for pregnancy.
“Data shows that roughly one-third of all pregnant women in Nueces County do not receive adequate care and support early in their pregnancies,” said Sherry Peterson, Success By 6 Director at United Way of the Coastal Bend. “This care is especially important because it can influence the future terms of their pregnancy as well as the health of both mother and infant.”
The Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby! Community Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation (2882 Holly Road in Corpus Christi) from 10 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last.
Those attending will receive free supplies such as diapers and wipes, oral hygiene kits, a voucher for a free car seat courtesy of Driscoll Injury Prevention program, and other resources to support the health and development of both mother and baby. Attendees will also be entered in a free drawing to win a jogging stroller.
Success By 6 is a community coalition established by United Way of the Coastal Bend. The initiative provides support for child-focused and family-driven services working to meet the health and development needs of children in Nueces County.
